    How to get there

By car: from Lagos, follow the N125 west towards Sagres and turn off at the signposted Zavial access road — about 20–25 minutes, with a car park just above the beach. By local bus: Vamus services between Lagos and Sagres stop at Raposeira, from where it is roughly 3 km downhill on a quiet road. By bicycle: around 25 km from Lagos, mostly on the N125 before a quiet descent to the coast. On foot: the clifftop path links Zavial and Ingrina in about 30 minutes of easy walking, making it simple to see both coves in one outing.

    What to do

Swim in the clear Atlantic water, relax on the wide sandy beach, or follow the coastal paths for views of the cliffs. When the swell is up, surfers and bodyboarders make the most of the waves. The beach restaurant is a simple stop for a meal or a cold drink with the ocean in front of you, and the evening light here is worth staying for.

    Good to know

Zavial feels more natural and wild than the larger resort beaches, with fewer facilities and a narrower access road. The final walk down can be a little steep, so comfortable footwear is useful. It is a strong choice for couples, nature lovers and anyone who prefers a more authentic stretch of coast.

    Good to know

    Is Zavial good for swimming?

Yes on calm days — the water is clear and inviting. When the Atlantic swell is running, conditions are better suited to experienced swimmers and surfers.

How does Zavial compare to Ingrina?

Both are small south-coast coves, but Zavial has a more open, spacious feel and a wilder cliff backdrop. Ingrina is smaller and more enclosed; Zavial suits those who want a little more room and a stronger connection to the natural coast.

Do I need a car to visit Zavial?

Not strictly — the Lagos to Sagres bus stops at Raposeira, about 3 km from the beach. A car is simply the easiest way to combine Zavial with Ingrina or Salema in one day.

    Are there facilities at Zavial?

There is a beach restaurant above the sand and an informal car park, but little else. Parking fills early in July and August.
