Within a few unhurried minutes on foot from Your Vintage Townhouse, a small constellation of independent cafés has quietly redefined the town's morning ritual — each one a study in considered design, precise brewing and unmistakable coastal ease. Taken together, they form less a coffee crawl than a portrait of contemporary Lagos: confident, well-travelled, and pleasingly unshowy. The beans behind several of these addresses come from Koyo Coffee Roaster in Aljezur, a small, quality-focused roastery up the West Coast.

Our first pick. A stylish all-day café where exceptional specialty coffee, a fresh, generous brunch and an easy coastal atmosphere set the tone for the day. The kind of place you arrive at for an espresso and leave from an hour later, sun-warmed and unhurried. Their coffee is roasted by Koyo in Aljezur.
DOT Specialty Coffee
A quietly design-led room that takes its craft seriously — rotating single origins, meticulous filter work and a pared-back aesthetic. A neighbourhood favourite, and part of the fabric of daily life just around the corner from the house. Their beans are also supplied by Koyo Coffee Roaster.
Black & White
Timeless, minimalist, and refreshingly unhurried. Espresso pulled with real intent, a loyal local crowd, and the sense — after one visit — of having been let into a small local secret.
All Things Dough
A superb Lagos bakery known for its artisan doughs and pastries — the natural finish to a slow morning. Two branches: one in the city centre just behind the house, and the flagship near the marina bridge.

The source behind the coffee at Coffee & Waves and DOT. A small, quality-focused roastery in Aljezur, roughly 40 minutes north of Lagos on the West Coast. Worth the trip if you want to understand where the local coffee story begins — and to buy beans to take home.
Clifftop Coffee Roasters, Lagos
A new chapter in Lagos’ specialty coffee scene. Clifftop Coffee Roasters has established a new roasting space in the Lagos area, bringing coffee roasting closer to its source and making the craft itself part of the experience. For coffee lovers, this is a chance to discover the people, process and character behind the beans — and to experience a side of Lagos that goes beyond the usual café circuit.
The experience: where available, the roastery opens its doors for visits and community coffee experiences that let you see roasting in action, ask questions and taste the results. It is an opportunity to understand specialty coffee from the inside — from green beans and roast profiles to the final cup — and to take home something genuinely local.

- How do I get to Koyo Coffee Roaster in Aljezur?
Koyo is in Aljezur, about 40 minutes north of Lagos by car along the N120 and the Costa Vicentina. There is no direct public transport, so a car is the practical choice. Combine the visit with a West Coast beach day — Arrifana, Bordeira or Amoreira are all nearby — and buy a bag of beans to take back to the townhouse.
- How do I get to Clifftop Coffee Roasters from Your Vintage Townhouse?
Clifftop roasts at Workshop 4, Laco Hub, Sítio do Chinicato S/N, 8600-306 Lagos — a small business park in the countryside north of town, roughly 5 to 6 km by road from Your Vintage Townhouse. Driving is the simplest way: about 10 to 12 minutes, with easy parking on site, and a taxi or ride-hailing car takes the same time. Walking is possible but not practical — around an hour along roads with little shade. Travel times vary with traffic, especially in summer. Note that this is a working roastery rather than a café: at the time of writing they welcome visitors on Tuesdays, 9am to 5pm, so confirm before setting off.
